The History Of The Potato




Potatoes are often on the Dutch menu, but not only are Dutch Potato Eaters. In almost all over the world people eat potatoes. Originally, the potato in the highlands of Peru where the Incas used it as food. The Spaniards brought the potato from Peru to the Netherlands in 1570. Only in the early 19th century the potato as a staple food popular in Europe. The potatoes were cheaper than grain.

Modern and healthy
Still, the potato in many people favorite. Many have discovered the diversity of the potato. Baking, frying, mashing, au gratin or grill, the potato is that! And then we do not even have goodies like chips, crisps, Rösti or croquettes. The potato fits perfectly with its many applications in the modern diet. There are many recipes for cooking on the stove, oven, microwave or for making salads. From snack to culinary achievement.
The beeper fits most certainly in today's nutritional advice as "Be moderate with fat 'and' eat plenty of starch and fiber.
